ASTERisC* is a cloud-based system designed to simplify cybersecurity oversight, reporting, and compliance assessments
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has announced the expansion of its supervisory platform, ASTERisC*, to include all banks and virtual asset service providers (VASPs) in the Philippines.
Initially launched in January 2023, ASTERisC* is a cloud-based system designed to simplify cybersecurity oversight, reporting and compliance assessments.
The platform facilitates real-time reporting, enabling the BSP to conduct real-time data analysis, enhance its oversight capabilities and respond more effectively to cybersecurity threats.
Agencies will use ASTERisC* to submit key reports, including IT overviews, incident notifications, crime and loss reports, and cybersecurity self-assessments.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, through its financial regulator, will provide login credentials, coordinate account creation and conduct training.
User manuals and training materials will be available on the BSP website.
Institutions must ensure they meet technical requirements, such as internet access, browser compatibility, and mobile devices for multi-factor authentication, in order to seamlessly access and use the platform.
The expansion for ASTERisC* users will begin on January 1, 2025, with early access available.
The platform also benefits institutions by streamlining reporting processes and strengthening their cybersecurity posture.
